This scheme proposes a development of elegantly designed retirement living apartments on the redundant police station site in Christchurch, Dorset. Comprising two blocks of 3.5 storeys, the proposals are articulated to reflect the existing pattern of larger Victorian houses on Barrack Road. Careful attention has been given to elevational scale, materials and proportion. The relationship of the building to its adjacent park and its external landscaped spaces have been a key consideration in the project design.
The design has evolved through extensive and positive discussions with the local planning department on behalf our client.
The project was part of a wider scheme, proposed for the redevelopment of the former police station site. Williams Lester engaged in the masterplanning discussions for the whole site and the development of the design character. We also provided a wide range of visualisations from 3d modelling to CGI fly-through animations, which supported the entire scheme throughout the planning process.
