“Part of the wider regeneration of lower Hamworthy”

The development of this former industrial site next to the Port of Poole is part of a wider regeneration of the lower Hamworthy area in Poole, adjacent to the ferry terminal and Poole Yacht Club.

“Nearly all apartments have direct views out over Poole Harbour and Brownsea Island”

There was a previous approval on the site which was partially built out. Our aim was to improve upon the approved scheme in terms of volume, views, appearance and the quality of the urban realm. We increased the accommodation on site from 40 units to 60 and improved the outlook of many of these flats. The arrangement of circulation cores and layout of the blocks ensures that nearly all apartments have direct views out over Poole Harbour and Brownsea Island, and most apartments have dual aspects.

The design is strongly articulated. Going up the building, the brick elements step back to provide terraces, while the white elements rise further, creating a series of vertical elements along the street reminiscent of historical industrial units on The Quay. The upper floors sit back from the edges of the building and are clad in a light aluminium frame, diffusing the mass against the sky.
