Transforming a dated and uninspiring 1980’s red brick farmhouse into a luxurious, exclusive, and contemporary family home.
Brief
The client brief from the outset was to transform, extend and upgrade the original an uninspiring bungalow into a versatile, spacious and uplifting family home, capitalising on the expansive views over its land. A key part of the project was to create an im-proved external setting, through high quality soft and hard landscaping, incorporating generous external entertaining spaces.
Ancillary aspects of the brief included the conversion of an existing stable block into a high-quality annexe for an elderly parent, and the construction of a barn, hangar to house the clients racing car collection and private helicopter.

Project Challenges
A fundamental challenge was to address the bland and dated elevational treatment with its low-quality red brickwork, hipped roofs and unattractive window proportions. The decision to lower cills to create larger windows, to change the hipped roof forms to gables and render the external masonry were pivotal in reinvigorating the overall char-acter of the property.
Approached via it’s own woodland driveway, the entrance facade has been fully remod-elled to create an imposing but welcoming gabled frontage, whilst the more highly glazed rear elevation overlooks stylishly landscaped gardens, which gently step down and channel the eye across a field towards a private lake to the rear.
A multitude of interior features include an air-conditioned circular wine cellar, with re-mote controlled glass lid, a sunken media room with state of-the-art sound system be-hind pure silk wall linings and a giant full height tropical aquarium within the bar area.
Designed in collaboration with Lauren Matthews Interiors, the rich, exotic internal fin-ishes which feature sumptuous tropical hardwoods are of the highest quality and ex-quisitely detailed throughout.
This is a home truly worthy of none other than James Bond himself!
